Saas-Balen lies at the entrance to the Saas Valley at 1400 metres above sea-level. It is the perfect place for people who prefer things a little quieter and like to spend their holidays far away from the hustle and bustle. Saas-Balen has maintained its rustic village character, but proudly boasts two striking features: the Fellbach waterfall and the late baroque round church.

Saas-Balen in winter Saas-Balen has a drag-lift which is particularly suitable for beginners. You can reach the other ski areas of Saas-Grund, Saas-Almagell and Saas-Fee in just a few minutes by taking the ski-bus (included in the SAAS ski-pass) which circulates at regular intervals. Particularly attractive is the special piste back from the Saas-Grund ski-area directly to Saas-Balen. Ski on the 26 km-long Saas Valley cross-country skiing trail along the romantic "Saaservispa" stream or skate a few rounds on the natural skating rink, which is free of charge.
